Since 2020, the Egypt SEG Field Camp has successfully trained over 90 students from more than 10 nationalities, working on projects that benefit society and align with the UN's sustainable development goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
This year's camp focuses on evaluating the potential of the Abu Qir offshore area as a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) site using marine geophysical methods. By participating, you'll be contributing to Egypt’s net-zero goals and the global fight against climate change.
The field camp will take place in September 2024 in Alexandria Governorate, Egypt. This field camp will be in cooperation between the most important universities in Egypt, " SEG Ismailia, SEG Al-Azhar, SEG Mansoura, SEG Tanta, SEG Alexandria, and SEG Ain Shams" with the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries.
Since we are looking to make the most of this camp, the field will be restricted to geophysics & geology students only. So, our scope (1-Students of special geophysics 2-Students of geophysics with a second major 3-Students of petroleum programs (geology/geophysics) The camp will include undergraduate and postgraduate students) Postgraduate (master's student or Ph.D.)
This field camp contains many programs, not just technical programs, but much more. The seven programs are: Acquisition, processing, interpretation, picnic, tourism, games, and science show.
To make this field camp one of the greatest experiences for the participants, we will have 5 Topics, Technical speech, motivational speech, soft skills speech, online learning speech, and career development speech.

Abu Qir is located in the western Nile delta, Abu Qir Bay is a semi-circular shallow basin that lies between longitude 30°4`, 30°20` East and Latitude 31°16`, 31°28` North, at about 35 km Northeast of Alexandria city.
